IP Fabric Releases

Upgrade Notice

An upgrade to 7.5.x or later is only possible from release 7.3.17.

When upgrading to 7.5 release, database will be migrated from ArangoDB to PostgreSQL.

For detailed upgrade guide, see Upgrade Guide for 7.5 Release.

Note that hardware requirements differ from previous releases.

We strongly recommend installing release 7.5 only on secondary instances within the EA program.

Before upgrading, review the API Changes, Backward Compatibility and Known Issues sections.

Our release naming follows semantic versioning, where the components of the version are:

major.minor.patch+build
  • The major version changes if we introduce a (typically backwards incompatible) change affecting APIs, deployment, or key component of the platform.
  • The minor version means a significant change, typically a new feature being added. These are typically backwards compatible, and we also keep the promise of API compatibility.
  • patch releases are frequently bugfix releases.
  • build is an internal version that increases with every internal build and can thus be a large number. It is used to distinguish between different packages.

Clearing Browser Cache

After upgrading IP Fabric to a newer version, you should see the Your application has been updated and must be refreshed dialog in the main GUI.

It is usually sufficient to just click the Refresh button.

However, in case of issues with the main GUI or if you did not see the mentioned dialog, please force refresh your browser cache.

The key combination for doing this depends on your operating system. In your browser window with your IP Fabric appliance’s URL open, use one of the following key combinations:

  • Windows: Ctrl + F5
  • macOS: Command + Shift + R
  • Linux: Ctrl + F5

This will only affect the browser cache for the IP Fabric appliance.

Update Process

Our update process is based on Debian’s apt package resolving. As a result, we remove any configured apt repositories during the update. If you have manually configured any repositories, the update process will remove them. Please note that we aim to keep the appliance as small and thin as possible, so any unwanted packages may be automatically removed.
